Lindy Ferguson presents
'Avalanche'
From a distance sometimes we look back and see ourselves, detached, disarmed, ungrounded. Some force within wants change and brings the ice edifice crashing down. In a moment of peace we are washed clean and then we begin again to build.
This is a piece for dance, film & sound. I have worked frm a poem that I woke up and wrote down one night. I don't really understand all of it, but I believe the Avalanche is the collapsing of an edifice of frozen wishes
and the blue is so far from anywhere ...
we are so far from anywhere ...
with these strange circumstances of our own
but in my dream always there are hands to make the difficult journey possible.
Avalanche is a contemporary dance work by Lindy Ferguson, which combines projections with vocal and electronic music. It premiered at Chapel off Chapel, Melbourne on the 7th December, 2003.
